PGLU enters MOA with PCC for Carabao-Based Enterprise Dev't in LU

Bolstering the province's agriculture sector, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) took a leap forward by entering a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) for the development of Carabao-Based Enterprise Farm on August 25, 2023. This was followed by the groundbreaking ceremony at the Agoo Breeding Station in Barangay Nazareno, Agoo, La Union.
The signing of the MOA marks a significant milestone in the development of the Carabao-Based Enterprise in La Union. This strategic partnership between the PGLU and the PCC aims to boost the dairy industry in the region while promoting sustainable agriculture practices. Through this initiative, the Province of La Union intends to harness the potential of the carabao in revitalizing the local dairy and agriculture sector.
The Agoo Breeding Station will serve as a facility where carabaos will be raised, bred, and cared for using modern and sustainable methods. This facility will not only contribute to the development of the dairy industry but also create employment opportunities for the local community.
Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David expressed her optimism about the project, stating, "The Carabao-Based Enterprise Development Farm is a testament to our commitment to promote sustainable agriculture and agri-tourism in La Union."
She also emphasized the significance of this partnership in the livelihood of kaprobinsiaan, saying, "Ang goal po natin kaya tayo magpapatayo ng Carabao-Based Enterprise Development Farm ay hindi lamang para mapabilis at mapadami ang production natin ng dairy products, more importantly, our goal is to uplift the the lives of our kaprobinsiaan."
Also present to witness the MOA and groundbreaking were Vice Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, Dr. Domingo Bobby C. Calub III, OIC Provincial Veterinarian, Dr. Caro B. Salces, OIC PCC Executive Director and Ms. Vilma Gagni, Director PCC-DMMMSU.
The establishment of Carabao-Based Enterprise Development Farm signifies the beginning of an exciting journey towards a more sustainable future for La Union being the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
