Exhibiting consistent readiness for unexpected disasters, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, conducted a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) virtual meeting with disaster-related PGLU offices and agencies today, August 25, 2023, in preparation for possible effects of Severe Tropical Storm #GoringPH.

While there is still no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal raised in La Union, the Provincial Government is already ready with its standby assets and capabilities for deployment--which includes land and sea-based assets; manpower capabilities; food and non-food stockpiles; medicines; and evacuation centers. Among the possible effects of #GoringPH being monitored are flooding, landslide, and storm surges.

Based on initial coordination with member agencies of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and component local government units on August 24, 2023, manpower, rescue vehicles, and equipment of the respective component LGUs are also ready to be mobilized any time should the need arise.

As of 5PM today, #GoringPH was estimated to be at 260 km East of Calayan, Cagayan.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David directed PGLU Offices in charge of response and relief operations to be prepared at all times as she encouraged the constituents to partake in #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan in safeguarding each kaprobinsiaan.
