PGLU Empowers Communities in Battle Against Illegal Drugs, Holds Capacity Training for BDCP Implementers

In support to the national anti-illegal drug campaign, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) continues to take proactive measures to combat drug abuse in the province by conducting a a two-day Capacity Training for Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP) Implementers held on September 5-6, 2023, at Ynad's Place Hotel and Resort, La Union.
Organized by the Provincial Peace and Order Council - La Union Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 1 (PDEA Region 1), the primary goal of the training is to empower ADAC Focal Persons in La Union as BDCP Trainers and implementers. This is essential in sustaining the Barangay Drug Clearing Program at the provincial, city and municipal level, ensuring a drug-free La Union.
More so, the training aims to promote, establish, and institutionalize Drug-Free Workplace policies in Local Government Units (LGU) that is integral to fostering a drug-free environment and preventing drug use in the workplace.
Speakers from PDEA Region 1 provided lectures and workshops during the course of traing. The participants received comprehensive insights into the latest strategies and techniques to effectively combat the drug menace within their communities.
On the other hand, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David was accorded by PDEA Region 1 for her support to the agency's anti-drug campaign. With the said recognition, she emphasized that the provincial government is steadfast in its resolve to eradicate illegal drugs and create a safe and drug-free environment for all kaprobinsiaan. The Governor also highlighted the importance of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan encouraging all LGUs, government agencies and private individuals and stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse.
The Capacity Training for BDCP Implementers represents just a facet of the ongoing efforts by the PGLU to address the province's drug concerns. By raising awareness, encouraging participation in drug reduction across all sectors of the community, and providing support for BDCP implementation, La Union is making significant strides toward becoming a drug-free province.
