PGLU Confers Award to Outstanding Kaprobinsiaan Grapplers, Shows Full Support

Recognizing the victory of kaprobinsiaan grapplers, La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David together with Vice Governor Mario Eduardo Ortega and the Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has conveyed their most profound commendation to Mr. Elvester Gaspar and Mr. James M. Durag of Team Lakay-La Union for winning awards at the 39th Grappler's Cup Benguet Martial Arts Festival held on September 24, 2023.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed a resolution No. 1732, series of 2023, which was authored by Hon. Alyssa B. Sibuma congratulating the Team Lakay-La Union and their coaches for their sterling achievements in the aforementioned competition that brought pride, honor and glory to the Province of La Union.
Gaspar and Durag both brought home gold medals in their respective weight classes while Durag also bagged a silver medal in the open weight division. Their impressive performance has showcased their dedication, hard work, and talent in the sport of grappling.
"I am extremely proud of Elvester and James for their outstanding achievement in the Grappler's Cup," Governor Ortega-David said. "Their success is a testament to their unwavering commitment to their training and their passion for the sport. They have made La Union proud, and I am confident that they will continue to excel in the future." the lady Governor added.
Vice Governor Mario Eduardo Ortega also commended the coaches and trainers of Team Lakay-La Union for their guidance and support of Gaspar and Durag. "Their dedication to their athletes has played a significant role in their success," he said.
The 39th Grappler's Cup is an annual grappling competition held in Benguet Province. It is one of the most prestigious grappling tournaments in the Philippines, and it attracts top athletes from all over the country.
Team Lakay-La Union is a mixed martial arts and grappling team based in La Union Province dedicated to provide high-quality training to athletes of all ages and skill levels.
