PGLU Conferred with Two Environmental Awards from DENR

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) has been recognized for its exceptional commitment to environmental stewardship and its valuable partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). During two separate ceremonies, the PGLU received the "Most Outstanding and Sustained Environmental Stewardship Award" and the "Best Environmental Partner Award" from the DENR and DENR – Environmental Management Bureau Region 1.

On July 11, 2023, the Provincial Government of La Union – Environment and Natural Resource Office headed by EnP. Annalyn Rosario-Valdez presented and turned-over the plaques of the said recognitions to Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David.

To recall, the PGLU was conferred as the Most Outstanding and Sustained Environmental Stewardship during the Ecological Solid Waste Management Summit 2023 held on June 27, 2023. The recognition was given for the province's effective implementation of solid waste management program and activities aligned with the provisions of RA 9003 otherwise known as Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

On the other hand, the PGLU received the Best Environmental Partner Award for being compliant to all environmental and mining laws during DENR's Environment Month CY 2023 Culmination Program on July 6, 2023.

The achievements of the PGLU demonstrate the unwavering dedication and La Union PROBINSYAnihan of the kaprobinsiaan to environmental conservation and sustainable development. Through PGLU and the people's exemplary efforts and initiatives, La Union has become an example of environmental stewardship for its component Local Government Units and other provinces. The recognition received from the DENR serves as a testament to the province's commitment to protecting its natural resources as it achieves its vision to the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
