In a concerted effort to enhance the capacity and compliance of tourism stakeholders to the Department of Tourism (DOT) standards, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office, successfully conducted a Mobile Accreditation Caravan across the province’s Agri-Tourism Circuits, which accredited a total of 160 tourism establishments from August 12 to 19, 2024.

This initiative aligns with the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s Memorandum mandating Local Government Units (LGUs) to ensure that all Primary Tourism Enterprises (PTEs) are DOT accredited.

The caravan represents a significant advancement in reinforcing the importance of DOT Accreditation among PTEs, including travel and tour agencies, tourist transport operators, tourism front liners, and convention/exhibition organizers. Throughout the caravan, 95 primary and 65 secondary enterprises received guidance and assistance in obtaining accreditation. Their accreditation ensures safe and high-quality customer experiences that are essential for attracting both local and international tourists.

The caravan’s itinerary covered various locations across La Union, engaging a diverse range of tourism operators simultaneously in the first and second districts. On August 12, the mobile accreditation commenced at the Luna Tourism Office, Bacnotan Farmers’ Agri-Tourism Center, and Bangar Municipal Conference Hall. Next, participants in the Bauang Tourism Office and Balikbayan Hall were served on August 13, while those in the San Juan Tourism Office and Dalumpinas Este Barangay Hall, City of San Fernando were assisted on August 14. It also visited the City of San Fernando Trade Center on August 15, followed by the Aringay Municipal Conference Hall and Agoo Farmers Building on August 16. The caravan concluded its operations on August 19, covering the Manpower Building in Rosario and Multi-Purpose Buildings in Pugo and Tubao.

The Mobile Accreditation Caravan ensures that establishments meet national accreditation requirements and contributing to the vibrant and sustainable growth of La Union’s tourism sector. It also guarantees the safety of KaPROBINSYAnihan and tourists who plan to visit La Union and experience its tourism offerings. With the constant measures toward elevating the province’s tourism standards, La Union remains focused on attaining its vision of being the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
