Provincial Population Officer Ms. Mila L. Gamboa answers the questions of students about Courtship and Dating during the Adolescent Health and Youth Education lecture at CasaCristo National High School, Bangar, La Union on August 17, 2018.

The Provincial Government of La Union, headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel "Pacoy" R. Ortega III, through the Provincial Population Office (PPO), conducted the Adolescent Health and Youth Education lecture to Grade 9 and Grade 10 Junior High School students of Casa Cristo National High School, Bangar, La Union on August 17, 2018.
This one-day lecture activity convened and oriented the students of said school to increase their responsiveness to population and gender concerns. Participants were oriented with issues related to adolescent and youth sexuality, reproductive health and including early pregnancy. They were also provided with appropriate information and life skills which will enable them to cope with issues related to their sexual and full development into adulthood.
Topics included in the lecture were Anatomy and Physiology of the Human Reproductive System; Fertility Awareness; Love, Courtship and Dating; Sexually Transmitted Infections; and Basic Facts on Teenage Pregnancy.
Reports from the Commission on Population Regional office I show that La Union has the highest incidence of teenage pregnancy Region-wide which is why PPO continually makes sure that this program would reach schools along all municipalities.
According to Population Officer Mila Gamboa, the PPO continues to address the needs of the youth by first identifying the schools with teenage mothers, schools having records of students who stopped going to school due to early pregnancy, and rising sexual relations among students.
