Pursuant to Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ordinance No. 107-2017, cited as the Provincial Bible Week Act of 2017, declaring the last week of January of every year as Bible Week in the Province of La Union, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), in partnership with the National Chaplains of the Philippines (NCP) conducted its annual celebration of Bible Week on January 22-29, 2024.

The activities for the Bible Week Celebration included Bible Devotional Activities per PGLU Office and Bible Day Celebration, which help mold the spiritual, moral, and social character of PGLU employees while at the same time responding to the call of the government to support efforts to strengthen ethical and spiritual values through practicing the teachings of Jesus Christ in the workplace.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David’s message delivered by Provincial Administrator Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III emphasized that reading the Bible is a guiding light that illuminates the path of love, compassion, and righteousness that Jesus Christ has embodied and taught. Further, it is a source of inspiration that provides insights and answers, especially during challenging times. The Governor also encouraged every KaPROBINSYAnihan to make reading the Bible a regular habit extending beyond Bible Week and a consistent practice that enriches lives.

The annual Bible Week celebration wrapped up with the concluding activity on January 29, 2024, at the Cong. Eufranio “Franny” Eriguel Hall, Legislative Building. The Bible Day is observed in accordance with R.A. 11163, otherwise known as the National Bible Day Act, where it resonated with both joy and reflection as employees connected in faith and fellowship.

PA Pacoy set a positive tone for the celebration by offering his warm welcome, reminding everyone of the comfort and strength found in Bible devotionals and sharing. After the Bible Study led by Chaplain Ryan Jay O. Tamoria of NCP, BM Maria Annabelle S. De Guzman shared a moving testimonial about her journey of faith. Her heartfelt words resonated with many as she spoke about the transformative power of love and belief. The celebration of Bible Day provided a platform for employees to connect with their faith and build a community of shared values.

The PGLU fosters a culture of inclusive faith that consequently affects moral transformation in the community.
