PGLU Brings Library Services to Remote La Union Schools; Supports Gov. Rafy's Directive for Universal Access to Basic Needs

In the continuous effort of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) under the leadership of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David to push for universal access to basic needs, the Provincial Information Office – Library and Archiving Unit conducted a Library Outreach Program to two remote schools in La Union to further bring PGLU services closer to kaprobinsiaan benefitting a total of 174 learners.

The first outreach program was conducted in Libtong Integrated School, Burgos, La Union on September 29, 2023, wherein a total of 84 learners benefitted from the activity. Learners from Grades 4, 5, and 6 had Storytelling and Basanihan as part of the Provincial Library’s reading promotion. Further, Grade 10 learners had Library Orientation and Promotion through the Introduction to the services of La Union Provincial Library and the 13 Public Libraries in La Union. A total of 60 titles of books were also donated to the school for the enhancement of their library.

The second batch of the outreach program was conducted in Santol Vocational National High School-Liguay Annex, Santol, La Union on October 10, 2023. Library Orientation and Digital Promotion including Navigation of MS PowerPoint and the Internet of Things were discussed with 90 Grade 11 and 12 students. Services of La Union Provincial Library and the 13 Public Libraries in La Union were also relayed to them.

All participants were also given backpacks, notebooks, and ballpens/pencils. Principal II Ms. Karen J. Feliciano of Libtong Integrated School and Head Teacher III Mr. Arturo A. Ragmac, Jr. of Santol Vocational National High School-Liguay Annex expressed their gratitude to the PGLU and Gov. Rafy for their effort and commitment to reach to far flung areas to bring PGLU services.

In the spirit of La Union PROBINSYAnihan, the PGLU leads the coming together of stakeholders in order to uplift the quality of life of all kaprobinsiaan.
