PGLU, Agri-Fishery stakeholders Gear up to Modernize, Industrialize Agriculture in LU

More than hundred members of Rural-based Organizations, and Farmers and Fisherfolk Associations from La Union gathered to participate in the Consultation Dialogue with Stakeholders cum Workshop which happened on January 4, 2024 at the Speaker Pro-Tempore Francisco I. Ortega Convention Center.

The said activity is part of the consultation dialogue series among agri-fishery stakeholders to finalize the La Union Agriculture and Fishery Modernization and Industrialization Plan CY 2023-2028. Inputs from local farmers and fishermen were gathered for the improvement of the said plan ensuring the generation of relevant and reliable statistics for development planning.

Further, relevant issues concerning the Provincial Government of La Union’s programs, projects, and activities were raised, and actions moving forward were identified.

In her message delivered by Executive Secretary Tito Orros, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David acknowledged the efforts and contributions of the agri-fishery sector of the province. She likewise expressed her support to them stating her commitment in creating better programs for them.

“Lubos naming kinikilala ang bawat magsaska, mangingisda, at ang kanilang mga asosasyon lalong-lalo na po ang kanilang determinasyon sa araw-araw nilang paghahanapbuhay. Naniniwala po akong dahil ito ang ating pinagkukunan ng araw araw na pamumuhay, karapa’t dapat lang po na ito ay bigyang prayoridad hindi lamang sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng madaliang tulong, kundi maging ang pagbuo ng mga pangmatagalang programa at proyekto na mas makatutulong sa inyong sektor at sa pag-asenso ng inyong kabuhayan,” states the governor’s message.

Vice Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega was also present during the dialogue to personally express her support to the agri-fishery stakeholders and the Agriculture and Fishery Modernization and Industrialization Plan in the Province. Board Member Geraldine Ortega was also present via online platform.

The Provincial Government of La Union through the leadership of Gov. Rafy shall continue to support the projects, programs, and activities that are geared towards building a stronger partnership and to unite and heed the call for #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan for farmers and fisherfolk.
