PG-ENRO, LTO 1 conducts Roadside Anti- Smoke Belching Campaign

To intensify Air Quality Management in the province, the Provincial Government – Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO), in partnership with Land Transportation Office Region I (LTO I), Environmental Management Bureau Region I (EMB I), and Local Government Unit of Bauang spearheaded a Roadside Anti-Smoke Belching Campaign last June 28, 2022 at Brgy. Nagrebcan, Bauang, La Union.
Using the EMB-I’s opacimenter and gas analyzer, the team randomly inspected and tested vehicles suspected of smoke-belching along the major thoroughfare of Brgy. Nagrebcan, Bauang, La Union. A total of 50 diesel-powered vehicles and 75 gasoline-powered vehicles were inspected and tested. The owners/drivers of the vehicles who failed the emission test were advised to have their vehicles be checked and undergo preventive maintenance. They were also given Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP) by the Law Enforcement Officer from LTO for violating emission standards set forth by Republic Act 8749 also known as Philippine Clean Air Act.
