PG-ENRO Conducts Tree Surgeries

The Provincial Government - Environment and Natural Resources Office conducted five tree surgeries around the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union on May 29, 2021 to treat wood decay due to harmful fungi.
Part of PGLU’s #KalikasanNaman Campaign, the activity aims to preserve and extend the life of trees and reduce possible accidents. Tree cavity treatment was done by excavating or cleaning and removal of dead wood using ax, chisel hammer and brush of different sizes followed by application of disinfectant like fungicide and coal tar, filled with cement and lastly, application of varnish to seal the injured portion and to prevent the entry of pest and diseases. Treated tree species include Narra, Tamarind, Star apple and Golden shower.
