Pammadayaw 2020 Recognizes La Union's Surfer-hero Roger Casogay and Others

La Union's surfer-hero Roger Casogay receives the first-ever Balitok a Medalia ti La Union Award during the Pammadayaw 2020 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. Casogay and other exemplar constituents of La Union were honored by the Provincial Government during the Pammadayaw 2020, an annual recognition rites held as part the province's anniversary activities. Previously known as Saranay Award, the Balitok a Medalia ti La Union Award is the highest award given to locals who have brought great honor and pride to the province.
Casogay, who is from Bacnotan, was hailed as 'surfer hero' after rescuing his Indonesian surfer opponent in the middle of their longboard surfing competition during the 30th Southeast Asian Games in San Juan, La Union on December 2019. Casogay went on to win gold medal. Other honorees were Rogelio Esquivel Jr., Frederick C. Ramirez, and Daisy Merida Valdez for the Governor's Award; Elvira Millares Alvarez and The Norluzonian Courier for the Kampeon ti Lengguahe Award; Manuel Acosta and Glenn Obillo for the Most Outstanding Entrepinoy of the Province; Municipal Fisheries an Aquatic Resources Management Council of Bacnotan for the Basi Award; La Union Police Provincial Office Director PCOL Jay R. Cumigad for the Diego Silang Award; Dr. Richard Ronald Cacho, the late SSGT Romnick Estacio, Rosario Mayor Bellarmin Flores II, Mr. Jeffrey Javier, Former Department of the Interior and Local Government La Union Provincial Dir. Paulino Lalata Jr., Major Jeffrey Mamuyac, former Board Member (BM) Reynaldo Mosuela, Former BM Francisco "Kit" Ortega Jr., Ex-Officio BM Ruperto A. Rillera Jr., and Mr. Porferio L. Soloria for the the La Union Service Award.
