The Office of the Provincial Assessor (OPAss) in collaboration with the Municipal Assessors League of La Union (MALLU) conducted a 2-day face-to-face training-workshop on Plotting and Mapping using the Enhanced Real Property Taxation System (ERPTS) and AutoCAD software on May 30 and 31, 2022 at Puerto de San Juan, Hotel Beach Resort, Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union.

Ninety-five (95) participants attended the training session from the 19 Municipal Assessors Offices. Among the topics discussed were Digital Tax Mapping, Assessment of Buildings, Tax Map Control Roll and Real Property Taxation Book 2 of 1991 Local Government Code.

The highlight of the training featured hands-on activities on plotting and mapping using the AutoCAD software and encoding of Field Appraisal and Assessment Sheet using the ERPTS.

Tax Mapping Operations or Tax Map is considered the heart and soul of assessment and appraisal. With the creation of less accurate maps, it could redound to poor assessment and appraisal valuation. Thus, the training aims to address the needs of the assessors, particularly in the tax mapping operations by way of digital and accurate rendering of maps, which could lead to more accurate valuation and assessment.

On the other hand, the said activity also became an avenue to express MALLU’s gratitude to its outgoing president President and San Juan Municipal Assessor Engr. Leila E. Valdriz. Engr. Valdriz will be turning over her duties as the president to Engr. John Anthony Aspuria who expressed his excitement to lead the league to its new heights to unite assessment and its collection office for a better La Union.

The Provincial Government of La Union continues to support and urge its offices, stakeholders and Local Government Unit counterparts in their programs and training that focuses on their empowerment for them to continue upholding honor, excellence, and integrity that leads to building a stronger La Union.
