Binas-o, together with Project Consultant Dodjie P. Nava of PC Craft Computer Technologies, Inc., conducted an onsite training and testing of relay station at Cataguingtingan, Rosario, La Union on May 28, 2019.
La Union Wide Area Network Mesh is one of the highlights of Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU)’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) advancement. The project aimed to connect all municipalities and district hospitals within La Union through the implementation of information systems such as the La Union Electronic Real Property Taxation System (eRPTS) for the Provincial Assessors Office and Provincial Treasury Office; Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS) for the Provincial Accounting Office; and Philhealth System for District Hospitals. This shall facilitate real-time updates and faster transfer or transmission of information. In addition, Internet Connectivity shall also prevail to its Local Government Units (LGUs) and hospitals.
The identified location for testing on May 28 were in Rosario District Hospital (RDH) and Rosario Municipal Assessor’s Office because they have the most complex design or multiple hops through the mesh technology.
Although the initial testing of the relay station showed less bandwidth than expected, the path of connection was still imminent. Average bandwidth is measured using iPerf version 2.0.9 installed on PGLU’s Gateway as Server and at the Testing Area served as Client. Other testing of relay stations shall also incorporated commence after all power sources were installed.
