OFW Returnees Trained on Business and Financial Literacy

The Provincial Government of La Union through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) conducted a Financial Awareness and Small Business Management Training (FAS/SBMT) for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) Returnees on February 27, 2019 at the 5th Floor, LUPAC Building, Quezon Ave., City of San Fernando, La Union.

The activity introduced the participants to productive undertakings relative to business and financial literacy. FAS/SBMT is a requirement in availing Livelihood Development Assistance Program (LDAP) and Balik Pinay! Balik Hanapbuhay! (BPBH) from the Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA).

NRCO Reintegration Officer for Region I Ms. Iries Sarmiento Mazon discussed the basic creation and management of a business enterprise. After the lecture, a workshop on the preparation of business plan proposal was also done in the afternoon. Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Ms. Charito C. Dator discussed to the participants the programs and services of the PESO.

The NRCO initiated this program to encourage OFW returnees and their families to put up small business enterprise for self -employment. The agency works closely with other Department of Labor and Employment agencies, such as the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, OWWA, and the PESOs in the implementation of program and services for OFW and their family members.
