NEW LA UNION SK FED PRESIDENT ASSUMES OFFICE; COMMITS TO LEAD, EMPOWER YOUTH INITIATIVES

After having been elected as the new President of the Provincial SK Federation in La Union, Hon. Harold Dave E. Sibuma of Aringay, La Union officially assumed office as Ex-Officio Member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan by taking the oath as administered by Vice Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega during the 75th Regular Session of the 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan on December 5, 2023.
During the session, Hon. Sibuma delivered his first privilege speech introducing himself to the members and outlining his priorities and initiatives for excellence and governance centered on four words, HOPE, LOVE, COURAGE, and SERVICE ABOVE SELF.
He elaborated on these, Hope - he is hopeful to champion his advocacies on youth empowerment, good health and well-being, quality education, and social inclusion. Likewise, to be the voice and helping hand of today’s generation and for the next generations to come; Love – he expressed his gratitude to his family, friends, staff, and colleagues for the love he is receiving and anchoring on the same to do his responsibilities with open arms, open mind, and open heart; Courage – he committed to serve with courage for he is already ready to take a lead and follow with the different sectors, especially the youth; and Service - he pledged to be always willing to listen, adopt, embrace, and be a helping hand to everyone for he knows that service above self will help to build goodwill.
“Hindi po ako basta kabataan lang - Ako po ay isang kabataan na may pangarap, dignidad, prinsipyo, at malasakit,” Hon. Sibuma said in his speech. As he assumes a dual role in representing the SK Federation and youth constituency in the SP, he looks forward to collaborating with colleagues, staff, and stakeholders in addressing the needs and aspirations of the constituents through the formulation and implementation of programs, projects, and policies that benefit not only the youth but the entire community.
Hon. Sibuma was well-received by the SP members, they appreciated his fresh ideas and passion for making a meaningful impact, especially in the youth sector. They expressed their support and optimism about his ability to inspire positive change and address pressing issues concerning the youth.
The joint efforts of the SK Federation President and the SP members are expected to yield more tangible results in terms of legislation, fostering #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan between the youth sector and the local legislative body.
