In a joint effort to boost emergency preparedness among healthcare personnel, the Naguilian District Hospital (NDH) successfully conducted a four-day Basic Life Support and Standard First Aid training from October 15 to 18, 2024.
In partnership with JCI Naguilian Basi, the Department of Health – Ilocos Center for Health Development, and with assistance from the Bureau of Fire Protection and Naguilian Police Station, the program equipped participants with essential life-saving skills. NDH nurses, administrative staff, and support personnel engaged in both theoretical lessons and practical exercises to improve their emergency response capabilities.
The training focused on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), proper usage of Automated External Defibrillators, wound care, bandaging, and emergency protocols, with participants practicing in real-life simulations to build confidence. Team-building activities also fostered cooperation among staff which is essential for effective emergency response.
With the support of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, two more training batches are scheduled for November 5-8 and November 26-29, 2024, ensuring that more NDH staff have the opportunity to participate and further enhance the hospital’s emergency readiness.
Participants expressed confidence in their support to the province’s #AlertoKAPROBINSYAnihan campaign with their newly acquired skills, which will contribute to improved patient safety and emergency response at NDH.
