Naguilian District Hospital (NDH) took a proactive step towards enhancing its emergency preparedness on August 25, 2023, by conducting a comprehensive Fire Safety Drill.

The drill, organized in collaboration with the Naguilian La Union Bureau of Fire Prevention (BFP) under the supervision of SINSP Noel C. Lopez, aimed to empower NDH employees with practical survival skills in the event of fire outbreaks.

Patients at the Out-Patient Department and Wards were also asked to participate in the drill. This inclusive approach ensured that everyone, from staff to patients, was well-versed in the evacuation procedures.

The drill showcased a seamless evacuation process demonstrating the level of preparedness among NDH employees. Chief Nurse Ms. Joy F. Lictan was commended for her exceptional leadership in command in coordinating the evacuation of both staff and patients.

The entire NDH staff were also applauded by demonstrated exceptional orderliness and a systematic approach during the drill. Their commendable response to the simulated emergency scenario underlined the hospital's commitment to safety protocols and efficient crisis management.

Further, Naguilian BFP provided a hands-on demonstration of fire extinguisher usage that provided NDH employees with the knowledge of effectively tackling fires and minimizing potential damage.

The NDH Fire Safety Drill not only exemplifies the hospital's commitment to safety but also aligns perfectly with Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David's mandate of fostering a more resilient community in La Union. It is a testament to the hospital's dedication to Gov. Rafy's vision, as it actively contributes to the creation of a well-prepared and resilient community in our province.

With the firm belief that readiness and knowledge are vital in effective emergency response, NDH stands committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of both its employees and the kaprobinsiaan they serve.
