The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist distributes grafted mango seedlings and hybrid vegetable seeds to the 19 Municipalities of La Union and the City of San Fernando on August 20, 2018.

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) started releasing grafted mango seedlings and assorted hybrid vegetable seeds to post master-listed farmer-beneficiaries from the 19 municipalities and one city of La Union at the OPAg on August 20, 2018.

Provincial Focal Person on the Rural Based Organizations (RBOs) Justino F. Casuga said the release was made after Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III recognized the urgent need to offer the said agricultural interventions to the farming communities in time for the rainy season.

“… OPAg has to respond to the numerous requests of our farmer- beneficiaries especially when they are just too busy tending their farmlands and jumpstarting their contributions in making their farms as potential Agri-Tourism sites,” said Casuga. “Gov. Pacoy: has always been on the close watch in developing agricultural resources of the province as productive centers of farm tourism… this is his vision and we are in full support to position La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025…” he added.

Almost 16,000 mango seedlings and over 2,000 seed cans have been distributed by the OPAg to the recepients.
