Information officers (IOs) of the various government agencies in La Union underscore the essence of synergy in transforming and sustaining La Union as home to informed and empowered citizenry.

Aligned to the call for La Union PROBINSIYAnihan, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David assured the IOs of her unwavering support as she recognized their vital role in ensuring active citizen participation.

Gov. Rafy emphasized this commitment as she served as keynote speaker during the general assembly of the La Union Association of Government Information Officers (LUAGIO) on September 18, 2023, at the Bacnotan Farmers’ Agri-Tourism Center, Bacnotan, La Union.

The assembly was participated in by around 30 IOs of various Local Government Units (LGUs), National Government Agencies’ provincial offices, and other government entities based in La Union.

The assembly centered on the election of LUAGIO officers for 2023-2025, where Rowan Joshua Dimaculangan, Provincial Government of La Union Information Officer, was elected as President.

He thanked the LUAGIO and Philippine Information Agency Regional Office 1 (PIA RO1) led by Regional Director Jennilyne C. Role, as he underpinned that information services should by Relevant, Vibrant, Outstanding, and Developmental – alluding to Gov. Rafy’s leadership thrusts.

Gov. Rafy administered the oath of Dimaculangan, along with the other elected officers namely: Atty. Rollidel Concepcion of LGU Balaoan as Vice President; Atty. Jake Danduan of LGU Bangar as Secretary; Dr. Belen Aquino of the Department of Education La Union Schools Division Office as Treasurer; Mr. Marc Jandel Buccat of LGU Bacnotan as Auditor; Dr. Rolando Mallare of LGU Aringay as PRO; and Heidrich Calderon of the Department of the Interior and Local Government La Union as Business Manager.

Gov. Rafy enjoined the IOs to remain steadfast in their public service. “You are our safekeepers of information integrity, data validators, and you form a crucial part in our La Union PROBINSYAnihan journey towards a strong, informed kaprobinsiaan. This is very important as it will not only add harmony to the community but also pave way for better individual decision-making.”

Organized by the PIA RO1, the LUAGIO aims to foster an efficient and productive community among government communicators in La Union, as they build networks, strengthen collaboration, and develop initiatives to elevate information services in La Union.
