The General Revision of Real Property Assessments which is awaiting approval was discussed by Engr. Arnulfo A. Cacho during the quarterly meeting of La Union Association of Local Treasurers and Assessors, Inc. (LUALTRA) at Sea and Sky Hotel, City of San Fernando, La Union on August 8, 2019.
Engr. Cacho said, “General Revision will play a big role as the province aims to increase its revenue to more than P14 million based on the cost benefit analysis supporting more infrastructure projects and other social services compared to P884,000.00 without the conduct of General Revision ending 2020.”
In compliance to the Local Government Code Sec. 219, R.A. 7160, the province or city shall undertake a general revision of real property assessments once in every three years. The purpose of General Revision is to equalize and update valuation; to identify lost properties from tax rolls; and to enable the assessor to purge the rolls of the double assessments of properties that have accumulated through the years.
During the meeting, local treasurers and assessors of the Local Government Units raised their issues and concerns and shared their ideas on how they can boost their efficiency for both offices as they aim for accountability and transparency in local public finance capitalizing on Agri-Tourism vision.
