LU PRIDE SHINES IN ART COMPETITION

LA UNION PRIDE IN ARTS. Mr. Rodel Rillera (center) receives his plaque and cash prize of P300,000.00 for winning the second place for the Non-Representational Category in the 2019 Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) National Art Competition during its Awards Night on June 7, 2019 at GSIS Financial Center, Pasay City. His art work, flashed in the background, is called “Insekto sa Lipunan.” Mr. Rillera outshined more than 500 entries in said competition.

Dap-ayan La Union Center for Culture and the Arts Curator and Artist Mr. Rodel Rillera of the Provincial Government of La Union bagged the second prize for the Non-Representational Category of the 2019 Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) National Art Competition held at GSIS Theatre, GSIS Financial Center, Pasay City on June 7, 2019.

His art work “Insekto sa Lipunan” outshined more than 500 entries submitted by other artists in the country earning him a plaque and cash prize amounting to Php300,000.00.

Mr. Rillera is a member of the Artist Guild of La Union (AGLAUN) and he was also awarded the 3rd prize in the same competition last year.

He was also a finalist in 2011 and 2012 in the Non-Representational Category. In year 2013, he garnered the 3rd place in the Sculpture Category for his piece called “Work over load.”

The GSIS National Art Competition is one of the country’s biggest and most awaited art contest. Annually, it attracts thousands of artists in the mixed media, non-representational, and sculpture categories.

In the same competition, Mr. Geoffrey Ranchez from the Municipality of San Juan bagged the 3rd prize for the sculpture category and received a plaque and Php100,000.00 cash.
