LU PESO Bares 2nd Quarter Accomplishments

The La Union Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Federation discussed their accomplishments for the second quarter of 2018 during their Second Quarter Meeting at the Municipal Hall of Sudipen, La Union on August 14, 2018.
The report shows that job applicants referred were 7,722 or 72% of the target for 2018; job applicants placed were 6,781 or 78%; Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) placed were 322 or 92%; individuals provided with Labor Market Information were 22,156 or 78%; institutions reached were 163 or 81%; conducted job fairs were 12 or 63%; conducted PESO meetings were 6 or 150%; and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Integrated Livelihood Program and Emergency Employment Programs - Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (DILEEP-TUPAD) were 307 or 178%.
13 PESO Managers and staff from the different local Government Units in the province of La Union participated in the said meeting which was presided by La Union PESO Federation Vice – President and PESO Manager of Agoo, La Union Ms. Gloria Joycelyn F. Aberin.
Sudipen, La Union Mayor Alexander O. Buquing urged the PESOs to work together in protecting the jobseekers for overseas employment from illegal recruitment and monitor the safety of the job applicants in the recruitment activities and deployment abroad. Mayor Buquing extended his sincere gratitude for PESOs in their advocacy of promoting employment programs and services to the public.
DOLE La Union Field Officer Ms. Veronica A. Corsino and Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Ms. Ester P. Prepose shared the highlights of PESO accomplishments and status of DOLE Programs cascaded to different PESOs in La Union. They also gave an update on the status payment of salaries of SPES Beneficiaries and TUPAD Beneficiaries. Ms. Corsino also reported to the body the status of livelihood projects awarded to the municipalities of Bagulin, Naguilian and San Gabriel, La Union through their respective PESOs.
