The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) took a significant step forward in its pursuit of innovation-driven growth with the official opening of the “Launchpad: Provincial Innovation Orientation.” This forward-thinking initiative, developed in collaboration with key stakeholders, aims to empower PGLU employees and the Provincial Innovation Council with the necessary tools and expertise to cultivate a robust culture of innovation across the province.
True to its title, the orientation serves as a launchpad or springboard from which La Union can be catapulted toward innovation, enhancing sustainable development and elevating public service delivery. Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, represented by Executive Assistant Eleazar Belgica, highlighted such pursuit in her message. “Innovation fuels sustainable development, allowing us to craft solutions that not only meet our local needs but also elevate La Union as a leader in progressive governance and regional transformation," the Governor underscored.
The Launchpad initiative brought together participants, speakers, and experts from various sectors, including Agri-Tourism, Information and Communication Technology, National and Regional Line Agencies, private organizations, and the academe, reflecting a diverse array of innovators committed to enhancing La Union's development.
It aimed to align provincial efforts with the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document, as well as the Innovation Ecosystem in the Ilocos Region. Several discussions were made regarding Policy Advocacy and Government Support, Innovation Collaboration and Partnerships, and the role of education in innovation. To help reach the initiative’s fullest potential, practical insights on Innovation Practices within Local Government Units, specifically best practices and programs in the City Government of San Fernando, La Union, were also shared.
Through the program, participants were immersed in strategies to boost productivity, streamline processes, and foster intersectoral collaboration within the province's innovation ecosystem.
As La Union continues its trajectory towards becoming an innovation hub, the Launchpad initiative stands as a cornerstone of this transformation, unlocking new avenues for growth, sustainability, and improved governance for KaPROBINSYAnihan.
