Among the eight Regional Entries for the Search for Best Day Care Worker, two Elyu Child Development Workers were accorded the Best Day Care Worker Award by the Regional Federation of Day Care Workers Incorporated (RFDCWI) in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office I (DSWD-FOI) on June 29, 2021, during the Child Development Workerโ€™s Week Celebration Culminating Activity held in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte via FB Live.

Pursuant to DILG MC 2003-111, the National Federation of Day Care Workersโ€™ of the Philippines, Inc. (NFDCWPI) will spearhead the National Day Care Workersโ€™ Week every June 7 โ€“ 11 every year which is celebrated simultaneously down to the local levels.

This yearโ€™s celebration focused on the theme: โ€œChild Development Workerโ€™s ECQ: Enhanced Commitment towards Quality Early Education for Children Amidst the Pandemic.โ€ One of the highlights is the Search for Best Day Care Worker, among others.

The two lucky LU Best Day Care Worker Awardees are Ms. Leonila N. Casipit of Darigayos CDC, Luna, La Union, 1st Place; and for 2nd Place, Ms. Salvacion C. Pacetes of PGLU CDC, Carcarmay, Bacnotan, La Union. Ms. Marites V. Sagun of the City of Candon, Ilocos Sur garnered the 3rd Place.

Ms. Casipit and Ms. Pacetes were awardees of the Provincial Government of La Unionโ€™s (PGLU) Outstanding Child Development Worker. The Provincial Social and Welfare Development Office (PSWDO) endorsed the two to join the regional competition.

The said activity aims to give honor and recognition to daycare workers for their invaluable contribution to molding young children in their early formative years of life.

Meanwhile, with the PGLUโ€™s aim to give due recognition to Outstanding Child Development Workers of La Union for their patience, dedication, hard work, and leadership, and provide them an opportunity to strengthen their camaraderie and at the same time enhance their knowledge, skills, and performance to improve the implementation of Child Welfare Program, PGLU drafted Ordinance No. 151-2018 โ€œAn Act Creating the La Union Ten (10) Outstanding Child Development Workers Awardโ€, of which was implemented since then through the PSWDO.
