LU 169th Anniversary Celebrated in Prayer, Flag Raising Program

In celebration of the 169th La Union Foundation Anniversary, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III spearheads the raising of the Philippine Flag during the Ecumenical Thanksgiving Prayer and Simultaneous Flag Raising Program on March 2, 2019 at the Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The Province of La Union together with its 20 component Local Government Units (LGUs) celebrated the 169th La Union Foundation Anniversary through an Ecumenical Thanksgiving Prayer and Simultaneous Flag Raising Program at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union on March 2, 2019.
The Ecumenical Thanksgiving Prayer was led by Religious Leaders including Most Reverend Bishop Daniel O. Presto of the Diocese of San Fernando de La Union; Mr. Rufo A. Baro, 1st Counselor of San Fernando La Union Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Sheil Sainal Kumal Macapundag, President of the Muslim Association-La Union Chapter; Brother Ernesto Mabasa, the Tagapangasiwa ng Distrito ng La Union of the Iglesia ni Cristo; Pastor Timothy Lee Warden of San Fernando Christian Community; Pastor Brennus H. Paragas of the United Christian Church of the Philippines.
In his speech, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III highlighted that the collaboration of all leaders, stakeholders and constituents was the key for La Union’s years of success saying, “We are La Union, the land created by the consensus for unity peace and love, concord and amity.” He also renewed his commitment to serve the province saying, “Today, on our 169th Anniversary, I renew my love to all of you and honor my commitment to uphold the legacy brought down through the ages by our forbearers.”
Gov. Pacoy together with the provincial officials led the raising of the Philippine Flag as the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) Family Choir sang the Philippine National Anthem. This was followed by the simultaneous raising of the flag of La Union and the flags of the 20 LGUs led by the Municipal and City Mayors and Council.
The ceremony ended with a Eucharistic Mass held at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.
