LEEIPU Facilitates LUIIB TWG Meeting

The Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit (LEEIPU) facilitated the meeting of the La Union Investment and Incentives Board (LUIIB) Technical Working Group (TWG) via video conferencing on July 27, 2021.
The TWG discussed the updating and amending of the La Union Investment and Incentives Code of 2019. Department of Trade and Industry La Union Provincial Director Merlie D. Membrere presided the meeting as the TWG Chairperson. Other members of the TWG present were Ms. Lina Flor G. Hizon, LUIIB Vice Chairperson; Mr. Ronald S. Dy of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce of La Union Inc.; Ms. Josefa Catherine Bada, Poro Point Management Corporation Representative; and members from the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) Mr. Darius Cargamento of Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, Atty. Domique Jose S. Puzon of Provincial Legal Office, Ms. Janet D. Molina of Office of the Provincial Treasurer, and Ms. Charito C. Dator of LEEIPU.
The TWG discussed the Code per section and agreed to change the benefits and privileges granted to registered enterprises which may be classified as fiscal and non-fiscal incentives in Section 5 based on the current economic standing of the Philippines and taking into consideration the newly approved CREATE Law. Other benefits defined in the Code specifically those provided under Chapters VI and VII were also reviewed including possible amendments to these chapters.
The TWG also suggested to update the Investment Priority Areas and align it to the Agri-Tourism Vision of the province. The TWG aims to finish the updating of the Code by the end of this year. The activity is a testament of the steadfast support of the PGLU ang LUIIB Members to the business community enhancing the investment climate in the province.
