LA UNION’S ENTRY RECOGNIZED IN REGIONAL SEARCH FOR BEST NGO-LGU PARTNERSHIP 2019

Miranda of the Office of the Provincial Planning & Development Coordinator representing the Provincial Government of La Union; Ms. Joy P. Flores and Mr. Mark Anthony Dilodilo representing the Municipality of Naguilian; and Mr. Dennis Rimando representing the Health Education Environmental Discipleship Foundation, Inc. (HEED Foundation) receive a trophy for winning 1st Runner-Up in the Search for the Best Non-Government Organization - Local Government Unit (NGO-LGU) Partnership CY 2018 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Regional Office, City of San Fernando, La Union on June 26, 2019. The official entry of La Union was entitled “Naguilian Watershed Forest Reserve–Rainforestation Management and Community Development (NWFR-RMCD) Project.
The official entry of La Union entitled “Naguilian Watershed Forest Reserve–Rainforestation Management and Community Development (NWFR-RMCD) Project” was awarded 1st Runner-Up in the Search for the Best Non-Government Organization - Local Government Unit (NGO-LGU) Partnership CY 2018 during the 2nd Regular RDC-1 Full Council Meeting CY 2019 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Regional Office, City of San Fernando, La Union on June 26, 2019.
The award, conferred by the Governance Sectoral Committee of the Regional Development Council-1(RDC-1), aims to recognize LGUs efforts in promoting a strong and sustained partnership and cooperation with NGOs that redound to local development.
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) was represented by Board Member Nancy Corazon C. Bacurnay and Ms. Glo Ann B. Miranda of the Office of the Provincial Planning & Development Coordinator during the said awarding ceremony while Ms. Joy P. Flores and Mr. Mark Anthony Dilodilo represented the Municipality of Naguilian and Mr. Dennis Rimando represented the Health Education Environmental Discipleship Foundation, Inc. (HEED Foundation), their NGO partner.
The NWFR-RMCD is a community-based watershed management development and sustainability program, which aims to build a well-managed watershed that continuously provide life support system, livelihood, and recreation for the people under the said Watershed Forest Reserve (WFR) area. It also contributed to the revival of ecological balance, biodiversity preservation and reforestation in the Municipality of Naguilian, and gradually rehabilitated local forest areas and improved the state of ecosystems in the area.
Said project is being implemented in partnership with the local government of Naguilian, HEED Foundation, Inc. and the NWFR - Protected Area Management Board (PAMB), particularly the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Regional Office 1 (DENR-RO1).
Also present during the said event were RDC-1 Chairperson Mayor Juan Carlo Medina, NEDA-RO1 Dir. Nestor G. Rillon, NEDA-RO1 ARD Donald James Gawe and Deputy Director General Vicente M. Agdamag of the National Security Council.
Members of the Regional Task Force (RTF) of the said search was composed of representatives from the DILG, DENR, Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) and NEDA.
