La Union VMs Elect Officers for New Term

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) La Union Cluster Leader Rocelyn Charina B. Flora proclaims the newly-elected officers of the Vice Mayor’s League of the Philippines (VMLP)-La Union Chapter during the 2019 Provincial Chapter Election on August 16, 2019 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. Elected Officers were Rosario VM Bellarmin C. Flores III as President; Balaoan VM Carlo Castor U. Concepcion as Vice President; Bauang VM Henry A. Bacurnay, Jr. as Secretary; City of San Fernando VM Alfredo Pablo “Alf” R. Ortega as Treasurer; Pugo VM Jose B. Basallo as Auditor; Sudipen VM Melvin G. Macusi as Public Relations Officers; and Agoo VM Henry B. Balbin, Bangar VM Virgelio M. Dabalos, Santol VM Monico O. Oriente, Jr., and Aringay VM Benjamin O. Sibuma as Board of Directors.

18 Vice Mayors (VMs) present in said election unanimously elected Rosario VM Bellarmin C. Flores III as President; Balaoan VM Carlo Castor U. Concepcion as Vice President; Bauang VM Henry A. Bacurnay, Jr. as Secretary; City of San Fernando VM Alfredo Pablo “Alf” R. Ortega as Treasurer; Pugo VM Jose B. Basallo as Auditor; Sudipen VM Melvin G. Macusi as Public Relations Officers; and Agoo VM Henry B. Balbin, Bangar VM Virgelio M. Dabalos, Santol VM Monico O. Oriente, Jr., and Aringay VM Benjamin O. Sibuma as Board of Directors.

The election was presided by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) La Union Cluster Leader Rocelyn Charina B. Flora assisted by Luna VM Oscar B. Reyes and Bacnotan VM Divina C. Fontanilla who served as Commission of Elections Members.

Outgoing VMLP President and newly-elected treasurer Alf Ortega committed to continue in helping the VMLP in La Union along with San Juan VM Manuel Victor R. Ortega, Jr.

Elected president Flores III says, “It’s very difficult to lead the pack of wolves,” challenging all the VMs to improve the Local Government Unit’s ordinances. He also urged all VMs to give focus on Tricycle Operators and Drivers' Associations in their respective Municipalities and City.

The Oath of Office of the elected officers will follow to be administered by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III.
