LA UNION TAKES SPOTLIGHT IN THE NORTH LUZON CHAMBER MANAGEMENT FORUM

Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III highlights La Union’s readiness to welcome investors as resource speaker/panelist in the North Luzon Management Forum of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce on August 20, 2021 via Zoom Conference presenting the investment climate in the province.

In his presentation, Gov. Pacoy emphasized La Union’s investment initiatives such as the Thrive in La Union Investment Plan; La Union Investment Portal; and Find Jobs La Union Portal. Programs such as the livelihood and self-employment assistance programs; Provincial Online Weekend Market; La Union’s Fairest and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ordinances and Resolutions were also presented.

He stated, "We want the Province to progress and sustain its economic dynamism. At present, economic activities continue to increase as the business and employment sector resumes operations following adjustments required in the new normal."

He explained that the Provincial Government of La Union is committed to the steadfast economic recovery and the hope to create a sustained and aggressive economic growth amidst this pandemic.

In the panel discussion, Gov. Ortega was represented by Provincial Information Officer Adamor L. Dagang. Other panelist present were Vigan City Mayor, Juan Carlo S. Medina; Guiguinto, Bulacan Mayor, Amborsio C. Cruz Jr.; and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Management – Pampanga Chapter, Rene G. Romero. Panel Discussion 1 discussed the Partnership Opportunities with Local Government Units and Legislators to hold the interest of Micro, Small, Medium, Enterprises (MSMEs) and stakeholders as it focuses on the local government units’ programs and best practices on local economic development. Also discussed were models of public and private partnership in the delivery of services to support the recovery of MSMEs. Mr. Dagang explained the vaccination program for Tourism Frontliners in the province among the activities implemented intended to bolster tourism activities and slowly open up businesses. The PGLU focuses on the mitigation of the CoViD-19 effects while also ensuring that at the time of the pandemic, the health commitment towards a transformative governance is still a priority to improve the quality of life of the people of La Union.
