La Union Returning OFWs Learn Financial Awareness

Provincial Public Employment Service Office Manager, Ms. Charito C. Dator and staff with the technical assistance of the Information Communications & Technology Unit representatives, spearheads the conduct of the two sessions of Financial Awareness Zoom Webinar for returning Overseas Filipino Workers on December 9 and 15, 2020 held at the 5/F LUPAC Bldg., City of San Fernando, La Union.

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and in partnership with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration-National Reintegration Center for OFWs Regional Office I (OWWA-NRCO RO I) conducted a two-session Financial Awareness Zoom Webinars on December 9 and 15, 2020 at 2/F PESO-La Union, LUPAC Bldg., City of San Fernando, La Union.

The webinar aims to offer returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) affected by the CoViD-19 pandemic a short online course about financial education that will help them realize the importance of transforming their habits of being spenders to being savers until they eventually decide to start their own business here in La Union.

PESO-La Union hosted the webinar and invited Regional Coordinator, Iries S. Mazon of OWWA-NRCO I as the resource speaker. The 45 participants of the two session webinars learned about financial literacy initiatives for OFWs, recipient of remittances and their families. She also emphasized in the webinar the importance of lessons on saving, financial management, investing and entrepreneurship, enabling them to transform their ideas into business plans and tips to avoid scams.

PGLU continues to implement reintegration programs for returning OFWs affected by the CoViD-19 pandemic.
