Provincial Engineer Elizabeth P. Sias, PPMIU Head Dr. Mauro A. Libatique, Jr. and Asst. Provincial Agriculturist Myrna O. Picazo receive a Certificate of Recognition for its outstanding I-BUILD subproject implementation, on behalf of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III on January 31, 2019 at Venezia Hotel, Subic, Zambales.

With Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III’s initiatives to reinforce La Union’s role as an administrative, economic and commercial center in North Luzon, the Province of La Union was awarded with a Certificate of Recognition for its outstanding I-BUILD subproject implementation on January 31, 2019 at Venezia Hotel, Subic, Zambales.

The Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Project Support Office (PSO) Luzon A and World Bank presented said certificate for the IBUILD subproject “Rehabilitation of Balecbec-Basca Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) and Balecbec Bridge” located in Naguilian, La Union. It was evaluated in terms of physical progress, documentation, operations, maintenance and Social Environmental Safeguards compliance.

At present, the Balecbec-Basca FMR stretches into 7.92 Kilometers with drainage and stone masonry wall along mountain slopes and cliffs while the Balecbec Bridge is now a 30 lineal meter pre-stressed concrete deck girder bridge. The total cost of the project is Php128,895,795.93.

Provincial Engineer Elizabeth P. Sias received the award on behalf of the Governor and the province. “Our hardships have finally paid off! You can’t imagine the situation before when the existing road was a marshy land and a waterway during rainy season and the bailey bridge is very old since it was constructed after World War II. Although passable, its repair and maintenance were always undertaken by the Provincial Government of La Union-Provincial Engineer’s Office Crew,” Engr. Sias said.

The said project was already requested for inauguration.
