PGLU Enacts 3 EOs, No Casualty in LU After TY Rosita

Acting Governor Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce calls an Emergency Response and Preparedness Meeting to strengthen La Union’s readiness for Typhoon “Rosita” on October 29, 2018 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. Pre-disaster Risk Assessment and delegation of cluster tasks were discussed in the meeting.

Three Executive Orders were enacted by the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) as a pre-emptive measure for Typhoon Rosita which resulted to no casualties and no major damages as it traversed the province on October 29 to 31, 2018.

With the directive of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III and after conducting an Emergency Response and Preparedness Meeting, Acting Gov. Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce signed Executive Order No. 19 series of 2018 declaring suspension of classes on all levels in public and private schools and suspension of work in all government institutions in La Union on October 30 and 31, 2018.

To mitigate possible incidents brought about by liquor intoxication, EO. No. 20 s. 2018 was signed by Acting Gov. Nisce that temporarily imposed liquor ban in the province until Typhoon Rosita left the Philippine Area of Responsibility. E.O. No. 21 S. 2018 declaring suspension of work in private institutions in La Union in the afternoon of October 30 and the whole day of 31, 2018 was also passed.

Urgent Memorandum No. 973-2018 was also signed ordering the mobilization of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) headed by Mr. Aureliano F. Rulloda III to activate an emergency response support for the province and the Activation of Emergency Operations Center.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 was raised in the province in the evening of October 29, 2018 and Rosita made its landfall in Dinapigue, Southern Isabela in the morning of October 30. PAG-ASA immediately lifted the storm signal upon exit of the typhoon in San Fernando, La Union on the afternoon of October 31.

A total of 1,293 families were served and a total of Php401,085 from the PGLU, Local Government Units, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Office of Civil Defense was spent for the assistance of those affected by the typhoon.

Acting Gov. Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce presides the third Operations Briefing in preparation for the typhoon "Rosita," today, October 30, 2018. In said meeting, Acting. Gov. Nisce gets the consensus of the team regarding the suspension of work in private institutions. He also emphasized on the province's agenda to record zero casualty in the midst of the typhoon.

As per directive of Gov. Pacoy, Acting Gov. Nisce and BM Gary Pinzon report the status of preparation of the Provincial Government of La Union for TY #RositaPH to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Officer III Kristian Tabisaura at the OCD, City of San Fernando, La Union on October 30, 2018.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer (PDRRMO) Aureliano F. Rulloda III reiterates the target to record zero casualty in the midst of Typhoon Rosita on October 30, 2018 at the PDRRMO Operations Center, City of San Fernando, La Union. Representatives from the Disaster Response Cluster from different provincial offices were also present in the meeting.
