The Provincial Project Monitoring Committee (PPMC) of La Union proudly showcased its project monitoring efforts and best practices at the Region 1 Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Network Forum on July 16, 2024. Held at the Candon City Arena, the forum was themed “Results-based M&E at the Subregional Level: Embedding Practice Towards Evidence-based Decision-making” and was hosted by the National Economic and Development Authority Regional Office 1 in collaboration with the City Government of Candon.
Mr. Remigio S. Bonifacio III, Chairperson of the PPMC La Union, presented the committee's initiatives, emphasizing the use of project monitoring findings in decision-making processes. His presentation highlighted the PPMC’s milestones from 2020 to the present, showcasing the committee’s significant contributions to the province’s development.
In 2024 alone, the PPMC La Union has already conducted two quarterly field monitoring activities, overseeing a total of 35 projects across District I and District II. The committee also reoriented its members to accommodate changes in the leadership of the member Civil Society Organizations. Additionally, the PPMC La Union has received numerous regional and national awards, including the DILG Subaybayani Awards and the RDC-1 Awards and Recognition Program, acknowledging its exemplary performance in project monitoring and evaluation.
Moving forward, the PPMC aims to develop a Feedback Mechanism and Monitoring of Actions Taken by Implementing Office on the Recommendations of the PPMC, establish an electronic Provincial Project Monitoring System that could help in the integration of data entries and updates on projects and programs implemented by the Provincial Government, which is vital in producing and generating faster and more accurate M&E reports in real-time and meet the flexible demands of the higher PMC and the general public, increase the number of projects monitored quarterly, and strengthen its linkage to both the higher and lower PMC.
The forum was attended by various project monitors from Local Government Units, State Universities, and Colleges across the region who lauded La Union’s PPMC for its innovative approaches and successful initiatives, expressing interest in adopting similar practices in their respective areas.
Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David extended her congratulations to the PPMC for their outstanding achievements and contributions as she expects the committee to continue upholding its high standards of transparency and accountability.
