La Union PDLs undergo Reintegration Training Program

With a strong commitment to provide Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) with essential skills and equal opportunities for personal growth, the La Union Provincial Jail collaborated with Rotary Club of Metro San Fernando La Union, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) San Fernando City to conduct a Siomai, Hamburger, and Dishwashing Liquid Soap Making Livelihood Program for PDLs in La Union on August 31, 2023.
Participated in by 20 PDLs, the said livelihood program aims to equip PDLs with valuable skills that enable them to earn a living while being detained. It also provides financial support for their families on the outside emphasizing rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
Representing Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David, Executive Assistant Eleazar Belgica expressed his gratitude towards the Rotary Club, PNP and OPAg for exhibiting La Union PROBINSYAnihan for the benefit of PDLs. "In La Union we believe in second chances and inclusivity. Through this livelihood program, we are not only helping these individuals develop skills but also giving them the hope of a better future," he stated.
Beyond offering opportunities for personal and financial growth, reintegration programs and activities for PDLs in La Union stand as a testament to the province's unwavering commitment to rehabilitation. Such programs serve as an inspiring example of what can be achieved when compassion, dedication and La Union PROBINSYAnihan come together to empower those who need it most.
