La Union pays homage to former Senator Rodolfo Biazon

On August 17, 2023, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members (SPM) led by the OIC Provincial Secretary Dr. Jane T. Flores handed personally the resolution extending deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences of the Honorable Governor Rafy Ortega David, Vice Vice-Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega and all the honorable members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to Mayor Ruffy Biazon of the City of Muntinlupa, son of the late former Senator and AFP Chief of Staff Rodolfo G. Biazon
In a simple courtesy from his office, Mayor Biazon thanked the SPMs of La Union, for passing the resolution authored by BM Jennifer Mosuela, extending the province's condolence to his father the late Senator Rodolfo Biazon.and giving honor to the same.
The Board Resolution stated that Senator Biazon was known to serve the Philippines with distinction and dedication as AFP Chief of Staff and lawmaker. During his term as Senator, he authored landmark legislations such as Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction Management & Recovery Act of 2010; Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003; and Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, among others.
“His passing away is a great loss not only to his bereaved family but to the nation as well,” the resolution states.
The former senator, who was hospitalized due to pneumonia, died on June 12, 2023, Monday.
He is being remembered as a champion of freedom of democracy as he emphasized the primacy of rule of law and respect for the Constitution and recognized the special protection needed for the poor and underprivileged.
Former Senator Rodolfo Biazon, a native of Batac, Ilocos Norte and a fellow Ilocano, is an epitome of a sincere, honest and dedicated public servant who always stood on the side of what was moral, legal, constitutional, and ultimately what was good for the Filipino people.
The Honorable Mayor Biazon expressed his appreciation to PGLU for personally handing over him the resolution. According to him, the thoughtful deed will be forever treasured by his family.
