In the continuing celebration of the National Quincentennial Commemorations of the Philippines (NQCP) this year, ten visual artists from Northern Luzon artworks are put on exhibit at Dalluyon CafΓ© Gallery in San Juan, La Union.

The Art Exhibit features works of participating local artists in the NQCP sponsored Quincentennial Art Competition, including national finalist "Ang Unang Sandugo ng Pilipinas at EspaΓ±a" by local artists and Provincial Board Member Christian I. Rivera. His work portrays a different visualization of the blood compact between Rajah Kolambu and Ferdinand Magellan. Centering the piece is believed to be the map used by the Portuguese expedition to the Far East. In an interview, BM Rivera revealed that he spent more time on historical and cultural research than the actual painting. And because he involved his kins as models, he considers his entry personally special.

Other participating artists include Arthur Diaz Bolinas, Angela Betsaida Laguipo, Lady Megan U. Barozzo, Daril Noblez, Domeng dela Cruz, Abet Sison, Wenny Pidalaoan Licuanan, Ronaldo Ponciano and Peter Abordo.

The Art Exhibit, which aims to make the local community aware of visual artists' ingenuity and continued involvement in the national scene, is open until August 10, 2021. In addition, NQCP celebrates the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan, the Philippine part of the world's first circumnavigation, and other related events that happened in 1521.
