LA UNION MOURNS FOR FORMER SENATOR BIAZON'S DEMISE, PASSES RESOLUTION OF CONDOLENCE

The 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice-Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega passed a resolution of condolence to the bereaved family of former Senator and AFP Chief of Staff Rodolfo G. Biazon which was introduced by Board Member Jennifer C. Mosuela – Fernandez on Tuesday June 13, 2023.
The Board Resolution no. 886-5053 stated that former Senator Biazon was a former AFP Chief of Staff and a lawmaker, and that during his term as Senator, he authored landmark legislations such as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction, Management & Recovery Act of 2010, Republic Act No. 9208, "Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, Republic Act No. 9165, the "Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“His passing away is a great loss not only to his bereaved family but to the nation as well,” the resolution states.
In the span of more than a decade, former Senator Rodolfo Biazon dedicated his life of service to the Filipino people as a senator, congressman and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff.
As a champion of freedom of democracy, he emphasized the primacy of rule of law and respect for the constitution and recognized the special protection needed for the poor and underprivileged.
Biazon's contribution to the enactment of the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction, Management & Recovery Act of 2010, had paved the way for the modern and advanced and quick response to victims of calamities.
The former senator, who was born in Batac, Ilocos Norte and a fellow Ilocano was hospitalized due to lung cancer and pneumonia, died on Monday, June 12, 2023.
