LA UNION LGUs CONFERRED AS CHILD FRIENDLY LOCAL GOVERNANCE AWARDEES

The 19 municipalities and one city in La Union were all awarded with the 2017 Seal of Child Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) award on November 9, 2018 at Rosario Farmers Center, Rosario, La Union, during the Provincial Children’s Month Celebration and “Balubal Dagiti Ubbing ti La Union.”
On behalf of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) chaired by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the award was conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office I Dir. James F. Fadrilan. All the 20 Local Government Units (LGUs) of the province of La Union passed the 2017 Child Friendly Local Governance Audit.
Our government aimed for a Child-Friendly Philippines, hence, the program audit was designed to enhance the delivery of social services for children which includes 12-point indicators to assess the overall performance of every LGUs.
Top indicators include safety measures for children in the community and schools, the extent of mainstreaming children’s rights to survival, development, protection and participation in the Core Development Agenda (CDA), and presence of policies concerning children.
The SCFLG award is based on the results of the mandatory Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA), which is conducted annually and covers all cities and municipalities throughout the country.
