La Union Jobs Fair 2018 Attracts Over 800 Jobseekers

As part of its celebration of the 2018 Civil Service Month, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III held the La Union Jobs Fair on September 26, 2018 at the Saint Louis College Gym, City of San Fernando, La Union. The activity aimed to provide jobseekers avenue to find their dream careers.

In coordination with Department of Labor & Employment (DOLE), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), and other stakeholders, the PGLU through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) staged the jobs fair which attracted a total of 836 registered applicants; 457 of them applied for local employment and 379 for overseas.

The jobs fair has also given instant jobs to 76 applicants who were hired on the spot. Other applicants were shortlisted for further interview.

The jobs fair pooled a total of 2,731 overseas job vacancies from 10 overseas recruitment agencies; and another 1,485 local job vacancies from 36 business establishments and employers.

Among the local jobs offered include service crews, drivers, customer service representatives, sales agents, and Information Technology personnel. For the overseas employment, jobs offered were in the fields of construction, factory work, medical services, and food services, in countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, and Singapore.

Also part of the jobs fair were 13 line agencies and non-government organizations which rendered counseling, technical advise and other assistance to the job-seekers.

Speaking in behalf of Gov. Pacoy, Board Member Reynaldo M. Mosuela, Committee Vice Chairman on Labor & Employment, expressed his gratitude to all the participants in the jobs fair.
