La Union Hosts 1st Regional Press Briefing in Region I

Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque and La Union Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III spoke before the members of the press in a briefing on January 17, 2018 at Diego Silang, Provincial Capitol City of San Fernando, La Union.

During the televised briefing, Atty. Roque gave local media and members of the Malacañang Press Corp updates on national issues. He also noted the low crime incidents recorded in the province for 2017. Atty. Roque commended Gov. Pacoy for his effective thrust in maintaining peaceful, orderly and safe as well as insurgency free province.
During the press conference, Gov. Pacoy was asked on his advocacies on business, trade and industry including creation of job opportunities. With this he highlighted the vision of his administration that is to transform “La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism by 2025.”
“This administration is founded on a program of Transformative Governance. The change that we aspire for has been progressive as we sought to align our Province with the directives of the National Leadership, “said Gov. Pacoy.
“President Duterte firmly stated, For change to be permanent and significant, it must start with us and in us. Truly, change has come. As it has shaken the very foundation of our comfort zones, so has it ushered in unprecedented opportunities for progress and innovation,” he said.
Further, Gov. Pacoy stressed the province Transformative Governance Framework defined the path of the Provincial Government in sustaining real change and true transformation. With the Province of La Union recently being conferred with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), where 9 out of 20 component LGUs received the seal.
Also, Governor Ortega together with Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members led by Vice Governor Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce guaranteed through legislation to dedicate their efforts in sustaining Peace and Order which is a strong thrust in sustaining the vision of La Union to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism by 2025.
The Province of La Union hosted the 1st Regional Press Briefing in Region I for 2018. Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Roque explained that he intend to conduct press conferences in the province in order to bring the administration closer to the people.
