La Union, City of San Fernando PESOs Join Hands for 2nd People’s Day Jobs Fair

More than 8,000 job opportunities were offered to hundreds of jobseekers during the 2018 San Fernando City 2nd People’s Jobs Fair organized by the City Government of San Fernando in coordination with the Provincial PESO La Union and Department of Labor & Employment (DOLE) La Union Field Office on November 7, 2018 at CSI Atrium, CSI Mall, Biday, San Fernando City, La Union.
The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – La Union and PESO – City of San Fernando, La Union partnered in conducting the 2nd People’s Jobs Fair on November 7, 2018 at CSI Atrium, CSI Mall, Biday, San Fernando City, La Union.
The Provincial PESO La Union rendered assistance to the PESO City of San Fernando in the planning, preparation, dissemination, organization and facilitation of the 2018 Second People’s Jobs Fair.
The jobs fair was participated in by 33 local employers offering 1,818 jobs and 15 overseas employers offering 6,647 jobs. Employers present during the job fair conducted initial screening for various positions in the field of accounting and finance; administrative and human resources; business development; building and construction; computer and information technology; engineering; healthcare; and hotel and tourism. For overseas employment, the countries for deployment include Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Japan and United Kingdom.
PESO San Fernando City Manager Mr. Roderick D. Gacayan reported that 96 jobseekers were Hired on the Spot (HOTS) that is equivalent to 16.40% of the 586 jobseekers registered for job interview during the event.
Present during the 2nd People’s Job Fair were City of San Fernando Chief of Staff Ms. Mikka Francesca H. Buenaventura, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Dir. Nathaniel V. Lacambria, DOLE Assistant Regional Dir. Ms. Honorina Dian – Baga, DOLE La Union Provincial Officer Ms. Veronica A. Corsino and Provincial PESO Manager Ms. Charito C. Dator.
Job Fairs are conducted to open up careers to the unemployed, fresh graduates, skilled and unskilled workers vocational graduates, OFW Returnees and displaced skilled OFWs.
