La Union Boosts Business Growth with Enhanced Training for BPLOs and LEDIPOs

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) recently organized a Capability Enhancement Training for Business Permit and Licensing Officers (BPLOs) and Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officers (LEDIPOs) of Local Government Units (LGUs) in La Union on June 29, 2023, at the PDRRMO Building City of San Fernando, La Unio. The training aimed to improve their understanding of the local business environment, legal frameworks, and best practices in business registration and licensing processes.
Dr. Eleazar Belgica, Executive Assistant to Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David, expressed gratitude to the participants and emphasized the importance of adopting technology, knowledge, and skills for economic progress. The event began with a welcome message from PGLU Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace A. Cargamento, who encouraged continuous learning and the exchange of insights among the participants.
Various topics were covered during the training sessions. Jacquilyn O. Ducusin, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) La Union Local Government Operations Officer II, discussed updates on online monitoring of permits and other related memorandums.Department of Trade and Industry-La Union Provincial Director Merlie T. Membrere highlighted the significance of entrepreneurship and innovation in driving economic development. Rafael Bajel Sotto, Department of Information and Communication Technology-La Union Information System Analyst I, provided a refresher course on the Integrated Business Permits and Licensing System (IBPLS) and its updates. Additionally, representatives from Landbank, the Department of Science and Technology, and GCASH-Northern Luzon discussed topics such as digital ecosystems, innovation schemes, and the benefits of online payment systems.
In the afternoon, the Association of La Union LEDIPOs (ALULEDIPO) conducted an election for its officers. The newly elected officers were tasked with fostering open communication and collaboration with the Provincial Government to enhance the ease of doing business and promote a favorable investment climate in La Union.
Streamlining the business permitting procedures, establishing a more business-friendly climate, attracting investments, and encouraging economic growth in La Union are the goals of La Union PROBINSYAnihan in empowering local government officials and employees with the necessary skills, knowledge, and tools to effectively carry out their roles and responsibilities in promoting business and economic growth within their respective LGUs and in the province of La Union.
