#LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan was showcased and embodied once again through this year’s La Union BASAnihan: Kwento ng La Union, a simultaneous reading activity on March 18, 2024, as part of the province’s celebration of its 174th Founding Anniversary.

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), headed by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, together with the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members, Local Chief Executives from various Local Government Units, Provincial School Board Members, and Guests joined the 702 learners from the 20 selected Elementary/ Integrated Schools, namely Pantar Elementary School (ES), Paratong Integrated School (IS), Oaqui ES, Mangaan ES, Porporiket ES, Cabaroan ES, Arosip ES, Baraoas ES, Sisi ES, Nadsaag ES, Baay IS, Casilagan IS, Delles IS, Don Tomas Mendosa ES, Macalva ES, Immalog ES, San Cornelio ES, Cupang IS, Saytan IS, and Inabaan ES. The facilitators and learners read 25 Fun Facts about La Union.

With its core mission to narrow the reading gap among young learners while imparting knowledge about the province’s rich cultural heritage and history, the BASAnihan aspires to promote education and cultivate a deep-seated affection for La Union within the hearts and minds of its youth.

“Napakaganda pong proyekto ito kasi mas napa-practice po ng mga bata ang pagbabasa…at natuturuan din sila ng tungkol sa La Union, maraming salamat po Gov. Rafy at sa buong PGLU!” one of the teachers said as she expressed her gratitude for including learners in the celebration of Ayat Fest 2024.

The commitment of Gov. Rafy Ortega-David and the whole PGLU, alongside dedicated stakeholders, is steadfast in bringing the programs even to the most remote areas of La Union to better serve all KaPROBINSYAnihan.
