La Union Arnis Athletes Shine in PEKAF National Open Championship 2024

Securing impressive medal haul, young arnis athletes from La Union made an impact in the recently held Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF) National Open Championship 2024 on June 28-30, 2024 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

The province secured a medal haul, bringing home one gold, one silver, and five bronze medals.

Szelwyn Jherome S. Pantanilla led the team by claiming the gold medal in the Live Stick Full Contact - Heavyweight Division. Avegail Corpuz earned a silver medal in the Padded Stick - Bantam Weight Division, demonstrating her skills.

Other athletes also showed their prowess by winning bronze medals in various categories. Clarrise Jane R. Selga earned a bronze medal in the Padded Stick - Bantam Weight Division. Kristine Joy D. Domingo stood out by securing two bronze medals, one in the Padded Stick and another in the Live Stick, both Light Weight Division. Xie Wryle Wadwadan demonstrated skill in the Padded Stick - Middle Weight Division, earning another bronze medal for the team. Gilbert Esparagoza, Jr. added to the tally with a bronze medal in the Live Stick - Superheavy Weight Division.

The athlete’s success was made possible through the support and guidance of their coaches, Dr. Rissa A. Banaña, Ms. Jeddhalyn B. Falyao, and Ms. Ruth Ann Lavarias. Their dedication and expertise played a crucial role in preparing the athletes for this significant achievement.

La Union’s performance at the PEKAF National Open Championship highlights the province's commitment and support to its athletes as they are the province's pride.
