LA UNION ARMS YOUNG JOBSEEKERS FOR SUCCESSFUL CAREER LANDING

Discovering their potential, embracing new challenges and building foundation for the work world. The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Trabaho Center of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) facilitated the conduct of Employability Enhancement Training which is a vital strategy to help a total of 515 youth to land a job. The activity was conducted on June 30, 2023 at the DMMMSU-MLUC Covered Court, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Among the participants were DMMMSU-MLUC alumni and soon to be jobseekers. This year’s graduates have better chances of finding employment as the government agencies like the Department of Labor and Employment – La Union Field Office (DOLE-LUFO), the Department of Migrant Workers – Regional Center for Luzon (DOLE-RCL) collaborated with PGLU-PESO to provide a venue for the young jobseekers to enhance their ability to land a job, navigate a career ahead, to adapt successfully in changing situations and gain courage to move flexibly in the labor market.
Ms. Camille R. Bumatay, Information Officer II, and Ms. Dhedrie B. Navarrete, Community Relations Officer, of the Provincial Information Office educated the participants on How to Speak so that People Want to Listen and Good Communication Skills; Labor and Employment Officer II, Engr. Celine Joy B. Duclayan, of the DOLE-LUFO discussed First-time Jobseekers Act and the Right of Workers, Atty. Remmond Ace S. Sanchez, Labor and Employment Officer I from the DMW-RCL presented the agency’s programs and services; and representatives from TaskUs, Senior Operations Managers, Ms. Ingrid Mitchilinn Salvilla and Mr. Justin Rainer Paran discussed the programs and recruitment process of their agency.
On behalf of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, Executive Assistant Dr. Eleazar Belgica delivered Gov. Rafy’s message to the young jobseekers, “Maswerte po kayo that PESO La Union and DMMMSU-MLUC's Trabaho Center collaborated and initiated this activity that aims to equip young job seekers, including fresh graduates just like you, with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the competitive professional world na tinatawag niyong "real world".
Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid, Head of DMMMSU-MLUC Students Affair Services, also invited all present young jobseekers in the training to visit the DMMMSU Trabaho Center to assist them for referral to potential employers and job matching. Provincial PESO Manager, Ms. Charito C. Dator, in her closing remarks, highlighted the importance of PESO Programs and Services in helping the supply and demand matching on the labor market through information, placement and active support services in the province.
The Provincial Government through PESO will continue to promote active participation and support programs for La Union PROBINSYAnihan Employment opportunities to young jobseekers, especially the fresh graduates in their transition to the world of work.
