ICTU Vie for eGOV Awards 2019

Mr. Gerry D. Binas-o, Office of the Provincial Governor – Information and Communications Technology Unit Chief, presents the Detainees Information System as an entry for the “The Best in eGOV Data-Driven Governance Award” during the Judging of Entries for the Digital Governance Awards 2019 at Bayview Park Hotel, Ermita, Manila on October 17, 2019. The Digital Governance Awards share the vision of establishing indices for local government units across the country in harnessing the potentials of ICT towards raising the bar in delivering public service.
The Office of the Provincial Governor – Information and Communications Technology Unit (OPG-ICTU) submitted two entries for the Digital Governance Awards 2019 which include the Detainees Information System (DIS) for the Data-Driven Governance (D2G) Category and the PGLU Careers for the Customer Empowerment (G2C) Category. The judging and evaluation of entries were held on October 17, 2019 at the Bayview Park Hotel, Manila.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) spearheaded the activity, in partnership with the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines and the Department of the Interior and Local Government. The Digital Governance Awards share the vision of establishing indices for local government units (LGUs) across the country in harnessing the potentials of ICT towards raising the bar in delivering public service. The activity was open to all LGUs and national line agencies and companies.
The panel of judges for the D2G Category was Ms. Karenina Buenafe of Huawei Philippines; Mr. Arup Maity of Blast Asia/PSIA; and Mr. Alejandro Melchor III of Analytics Association of the Philippines while for the G2C Category were Mr. Allan De Venecia of Development Academy of the Philippines; Mr. Carlo Subido of Infocomm Technology Association of the Philippines; and Ms. Emmy Lou V. Delfin of DICT.
OPG – ICTU Chief Gerry D. Binas-o presented the two entries. The OPG – ICTU remains focused on innovating ICT practices that can be used by the Provincial Government of La Union in order to promote efficiency, accountability and transparency to service delivery.
