ICTU Readies District Hospitals for iHOMIS

The Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU) readies and installs Local Area Network (LAN) as part of the operational requirements to the five District Hospitals of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) for the installation of the Integrated Hospital Operations and Management Information System (iHOMIS) on June 4, 11, 17, 18 & 19, 2019 at Bacnotan District Hospital, Rosario District Hospital, Balaoan District Hospital, Naguilian District Hospital and Caba District Hospital, respectively.
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) under the leadership of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III through the Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU) readied and installed Local Area Network (LAN) as part of the operational requirements to the five District Hospitals of the PGLU for the installation of the Integrated Hospital Operations and Management Information System (iHOMIS) on June 4, 11, 17, 18 & 19, 2019 at Bacnotan District Hospital, Rosario District Hospital, Balaoan District Hospital, Naguilian District Hospital and Caba District Hospital, respectively.
The iHOMIS is a computer-based information system developed by the Department of Health (DOH) to support the hospital management for effective and quality health care by providing timely, relevant and reliable information.
The main objective of the information system shall systemically record, collect, process, store, present, and share information on various service delivery and management functions. It will also help improve, facilitate, and make cost-effective hospital transactions.
The software shall be provided for free by the DOH inclusive of software updates, technical support, training and claims transmission. The hardware specification was included in the PGLU ICT Upgrade Phase 1 project of the ICTU that included five servers, 44 workstations, 15 dot matrix printers, 15 ink-based bottomless printers, five document scanners and five flatbed scanners distributed to the district hospitals which were needed for the operational requirements.
With the La Union Wide Area Network Mesh, implementation, facilitation and monitoring of the system will be quick and easy. There will also be a faster retrieval of information such as patient’s data, revenues and expenses. Through the mesh technology, there will be link via the Internet for the submission of claims.
