ICTU Joins Philippine Digital Convention 2019

Chairman and CEO of PLDT-Smart Inc. Mr. Manuel V. Pangilinan talks about his personal and heartfelt reflection on his experiences in the industry in his keynote address entitled “Standing on The Edge” on the first day of the Philippine Digital Convention 2019 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Pasay City on July 18 to 19, 2019.
Chief of the Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU) Mr. Gerry D. Binas-o and his Information Technology staff Mr. Terry John Y. Apigo represented the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) in the Philippine Digital Convention 2019 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Pasay City on July 18 to 19, 2019.
The convention was attended by more than 1,500 delegates across industries by invitation. The event was all about “EDGE” wherein they get to hear global thought leaders and business experts sharing their insights on the ground-breaking practices that have given their enterprises an edge in the industry.
Chairman and CEO of PLDT-Smart Inc. Mr. Manuel V. Pangilinan delivered his keynote address on the first day before the Digital Grounds Tour and Plenary Session on the 2/F Marriott Grand Ballroom. His speech entitled “Standing on The Edge” became a personal and heartfelt reflection on his experiences in the industry. On the second day, Industry Breakout Sessions were done on the Ground Floor Marriott Grand Ballroom. Some of the topics were Banking, Financial Services and Insurance; Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM); Manufacturing; Retail and Food Service; Transport and Logistics and Public Sector and Local Governments.
The ICTU attended the Public Sector and Local Governments which was co-presented by Fiberhome and Huawei. The subjects discussed were to streamline operations and reduce red tape to make public services more efficient for citizens. The session aims to empower the industry with the knowledge and cutting-edge technology to transform social service.
One of the speakers Mr. Kevin O’Leary, Field Chief Security Officer of Palo Alto Networks, discussed Securing Your Transformed Enterprise and Cloud Network Solution which can be adopted by the PGLU.
Other notable speakers present were Mr. Erick “Equalman” Qualman, a #1 bestselling author of five books on digital leadership and was voted the 2nd Most Likeable Author in the World behind Harry Potter’s J.K. Rowling; Mr. Fuad Siddiqui, Senior Partner for Strategy and New Markets Consulting of Nokia; and Mr. Naveen Menon, President for South East Asia of Cisco Systems.
Mr. Binas-o received an award and prize for being an early bird in the event.
